“Lophophora” Genus Cacti Lophophora means “crest-bearing.” This refers to its physical features. This genus has spineless, button-like cacti. Lophophora is native to Northeastern to North-central Mexico. Species under this genus are also known to be extremely slow growing. It usually takes around thirty years to reach flowering age. To date, Lophophora has four known species.
