“Acanthocalycium” Genus

Acanthocalycium is a genus belonging to the Cactaceae family. This genus is native to Argentina. Acanthocalycium comes from the Greek words “akantha” and “kalyx” meaning “spines on the floral tubes” or “chalice with thorns”. Typically, this genus requires full sunlight and a well-ventilated environment with a temperature from 6 to 7 degrees Celsius. This genus is known to be a decorative succulent for its vibrant colors and abundant flowers. It is said that this genus only has three remaining species.
